Day of action against monkey abusers

On Wednseday 29th of April the Coalition against Vivisection held a full day of demonstrations against monkey-abusing institutions in Belgium.

This week the minister for animal welfare announced she would set a ban in place that made experiments on great apes illegal, although there haven't been any experiments since more then 10 years. Also she would slightly improve standards for laboratory animals.
We were not happy with these modest improvements which wouldn't have much significance for the animals involved, so we held a demonstration in front of her cabinet. Also a small delegation went inside to discuss about these issues.

Our aim is to get change for the animals, and we want results fast. That's why we try to get a ban on monkey experiments first, this would be such a victory for the animals and would make a precedent for further goals towards animal liberation for animals in laboratories.

We confronted the K.U.L. again, this time they held a debate in Kortrijk, with the 4 nominees for the future dean.

After our demo we joined the debate weren we asked the nominees about their vision on monkey experiments.
They know now we are very serious about banning monkey experiments in Belgium!
We won't give up untill we free those animals from their barren cages.

Good to know, the University of Namur has decided to stop their experiments on monkeys, and they gave their last 5 capucin monkeys away to a shelter.

It's a good start, now there are only 2 places left where monkeys are held: the end is in sight!
